65% of startups on Kruze Consulting's platform are paying for OpenAI, up from just 3% when the chatbot launched in late 2022. Back then, OpenAI had an API service that one to three percent of his clients were using, Jones told Insider in an interview. At fintech unicorn CloudWalk, which is building a payments network, a few engineers started using ChatGPT Plus on their own and praising the application on company Slack channels. Indeed, the growing adoption of ChatGPT is creating demand for engineers who are especially savvy at using generative AI to get work done more quickly. "The feedback we got, which is indirectly related to our using AI, is that investors didn't understand how our team has so many clients and has built so much," Siegal said.

Soon, factories processing whale oil, meat and bones sprung up on the islands. After crude oil was discovered in 1859, the demand for whale oil decreased dramatically in the following decades. In 1990, French national Serge Viallele set up the first whale watching company in the archipelago, on Pico island. The number of whale watching boats is strictly limited by a license system, which issues a maximum number per island – or per zone for the smaller islands. For now, whale watching remains a major draw for visitors to the islands.

CARACAS, Venezuela — For three years, Juan Guaidó led the Venezuelan opposition’s efforts to bring about new elections and remove socialist President Nicolás Maduro. The vote reflects a changing balance of power within the opposition, which is trying to find new ways to connect with voters ahead of the nation’s 2024 presidential election. Three of Venezuela’s four main opposition parties backed the proposal to remove Guaidó, who was supported only by his own Popular Will party. After the vote, Guaidó said the move would create a “power vacuum” that could encourage more foreign nations to recognize the Maduro administration. So the opposition legislators created an “interim government,” headed by Guaidó, that was meant to last until Maduro stepped down and free elections could be held.
